Our approach to therapeutic bodywork is the integration of massage techniques tailored to your specific concerns, goals, and body. It emphasizes gentle, targeted techniques that work with your muscles, fascia, and nervous system. Our therapeutic bodywork style also incorporates various modalities, so sessions are often different than Deep Pressure massages. Therapeutic Bodywork sessions are individualized to individual concerns, goals, body condition, and body response during treatment.
We also differentiate between Deep Pressure and Deep Tissue techniques at Align Bodywork. Working with deeper tissues does not always require, or feel like, heavy pressure. Deeper layers of the body can often be accessed through slower, more precise techniques that may or may not involve the application or sensation of deep pressure.
Deep pressure is not always necessary for lasting results and can sometimes increase tension, especially in sensitive areas such as the jaw, neck, or head. Individuals also vary in their perception of pressure and response to it. For example, an individual might feel lighter pressure techniques more intensely, or another individual may not feel like a technique is deep pressure at all despite heavier force used.
Align Bodywork prioritizes your comfort and open communication throughout each session to ensure that all techniques and pressure used are safe, effective, and supportive. While we incorporate methods such as deep tissue work or trigger point release, these techniques are applied based on our professional assessment, your tissue condition, and your comfort level.
We encourage you to let us know if you experience any pain or discomfort at any point during your session, so adjustments can be made. Our goal is always to work with your nervous system, not against it.
Please note that techniques and pressure may vary depending on your health history and individual needs. While we are always happy to decrease pressure or modify techniques, we may not be able to accommodate requests for deeper pressure. We balance your preferences with our professional judgment to provide a safe, effective, and comfortable experience.
